AUGUST 2001 PRODUCT NEWS

  • Blue Mountain Quality Resources has added "Establishing A Dynamic, Effective Calibration Program: Calibration Fundamentals & Best Practices" seminar to their training schedule. Facilitated by Ralph Bertermann, the course will be held on September 27-28, 2001 in Las Vegas, NV. This class is designed for calibration engineers and technicians, quality assurance managers or QA personnel, validation managers or validation personnel, and new calibration managers or employees.
  • SPI Supplies is one of several leading firms, on a world-wide basis, manufacturing sample preparation equipment and consumable supply items for scanning (SEM) and transmission (TEM) electron and light (LM) microscopy laboratories. In the past few years, SPI Supplies has emerged as a leader in the supplying of scanning probe and confocal microscopy laboratories of their various needs for consumables and accessories.
  • Dwyer Instruments introduces a new infrared temperature thermometer featuring 12-point data logging, circular laser sighting, and adjustable emissivity. Compact, rugged and easy to use, the IR600 and IR700 can safely measure hot, hazardous or hard-to-reach materials without touching the materials' surface.
  • The new MarVision Multiscope 222 3D CMM from Mahr Federal is a compact, benchtop coordinate measuring machine designed specifically to accommodate multiple sensing technologies including touch probe, vision and laser sensors. The integrated design of the Multiscope 222 assures that the precise relationship between features is preserved, regardless of which combination of sensors is used. The MS 222 CMM provides many advanced features found only on larger multisensor systems, but at a fraction of the cost.
  • The new Trimos Horizon Premium Length Measuring Instrument from Fowler Instruments fulfills today's requirements of high accuracy quality control equipment. With superior systems engineering, Horizon ensures the best measuring results by easy manipulation.
  • Keithley's Model 2440 5A SourceMeter Instrument further broadens the capabilities offered by their popular SourceMeter line. The dynamic range and functionality of the Model 2440 makes it ideal for applications such as testing high power pump lasers for use in optical amplifiers, laser bar testers, and testing other higher power components.
  • Affordable new GLOBAL™ 544/574 coordinate measuring machines from Brown & Sharpe offer form, dimension, and position measurement capability in a single CMM.
  • HUMAN DRUG CGMP NOTES is a periodic memo for FDA personnel on Current Good Manufacturing Practice Issues on Human Use Pharmaceuticals, issued by the Division of Manufacturing and Product Quality. This level 2 guidance document represents the agency's current thinking on Current Good Manufacturing Practice for human use pharmaceuticals.
  • Mitutoyo has advanced its line of Environment Resistant Measuring Tools with the introduction of its new Absolute Coolant Proof Calipers. These electronic calipers have an environmental rating of IP-65, the highest in the world, which indicates that the gage is immune from jets of coolants and liquids from any direction. Additionally, the IP-65 rating means that the gage is completely sealed against dust and grit; this prevents any foreign particles from entering the housing. The IP (International Protection) rating system is a function of the International Electrotechnical Commission that standardizes the classes of environmental protection for industrial equipment.
  • Pinpoint Laser Systems, Inc. has introduced a new computer interface and software module called the DCU-100, enabling measurements from Pinpoint's Laser Microgage system to be recorded and analyzed on a PC or laptop.
  • Using laser technology in dimensional measuring applications results in fast, accurate and traceable results, provided that measurement uncertainties are correctly factored into the equation. Lasers are inherently accurate because the wavelength of light, which is the basis of a laser system, has a high resolution that is linear and provides a stable reference for dimensional measurement.
