OCTOBER 2001 PRODUCT NEWS

  • Remote Process Interface (RPI) now offers integrated HART functionality, allowing remote calibration of field devices. The I/O system connects to ControlNet, Modbus Plus, Modbus RTU, and Profibus gateways and provides redundancy for communication, backplane, and power. The use of RPI eliminates marshaling and I/O cards, and requires just two cables: communication and power. It processes discrete and analog signals and mounts inside Class I, Div. 2 locations.
  • A new hydraulic high pressure controller from Ruska Instrument, a Druck Group company, is ideal for a wide variety of high volume/automated test and calibration applications. It offers an unmatched precision of up to 0.01% and ranges up to 40000 psi. This is enhanced with dual ranging and triple scaling options for the widest possible dynamic operating capability.
  • Looking for information on how to best implement a 21 CFR Part 11 compliance program? Find the tools needed in the new Complying with 21 CFR Part 11- Electronic Records and Electronic Signatures Guidance Document.
  • Fowler has designed two complete Surveillance Master Sets containing everything needed to calibrate calipers or micrometers. Each set comes with a NIST calibration certificate, and full calibration procedures and measuring instructions.
  • Larson System's Super Force Meter System is a convenient, high precision machine designed for calibrating force machines and for measuring force. It is one of the most flexible and easy to use systems available. With smart interchangeable load cells ranging from grams to 20,000 lbs, changeovers are a snap.
  • ISO (International Organization for Standardization) has published a new edition of the ISO 9000 Compendium which includes the revised ISO 9000:2000 series of its quality management system standards.
  • Martel Electronic's PPC-3300 is a rugged portable digital pressure calibrator. This multi-functional instrument incorporates state of the art digital pressure and electrical measurement technologies to facilitate the calibration of pressure transmitters and switches.
  • Larson System's Master Calibrated Spring is intended to be used for periodic checks on spring testers to verify calibration. Typically a 5 minute or less procedure, Master Calibrated Springs can provide confidence and compliance with your ISO-9000 equipment verification procedures. Springs are available in 10/100/250/400/500/750 and 1,000 lb. capacities. Master Calibrated Spring and Spring Calibration Certificate are provided.
  • Drug & Market Development Publication's Guide to Good Manufacturing Practice (How-to-Guide #9019) provides pharmaceutical and biological companies with assistance in compliance with the GMP rules laid down by the USA, Canada, Japan, the EC and WHO. It is addressed particularly to smaller companies, perhaps those with their first new drug, facing this extra challenge to their capabilities.
  • Dwyer Instruments, Inc. announces the release of the Model CAL10 Thermocouple Calibrator. Designed to independently measure and simulate voltage and current, the Model CAL10 is able to calibrate electronic process equipment such as controllers, transmitters, and recorders.
  • The Brooklyn Thermometer Company has issued their new Catalog #2001 describing its complete line of glass thermometers and introducing new products. The catalog features over 100 different Laboratory grade glass thermometers and over 90 different Precision grade thermometers.
  • HN Proficiency Testing has announced the start of operations. Several kinds of services will be offered. Initially, service will focus on traditional proficiency testing packages where a package of artifacts will be assembled, they will be calibrated by an accredited laboratory, then sent around to the individual participants, the results collected and our analysis presented in a report to the participants.
  • The Beamex - MC3 calibrator is a portable "mid-range" calibrator which can be ordered in three different configurations.
  • The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has announced the availability of a draft guidance entitled "Guidance for Industry, 21 CFR Part 11; Electronic Records; Electronic Signatures, Glossary of Terms."
  • The Pyrometer Instrument Co., Inc. introduces its Pyrofiber Single axis Fiber Optic Sensor Head for measuring precise IR temperature and emissivity values of miniature targets. Target sizes to 1 mm can be measured accurately with this single axis sensor head design.
