JUNE 2003 PRODUCT NEWS

  • Hart Scientific, a world leader in temperature calibration products and services, has developed the Model 9122A High-Accuracy Dry-Well that can simultaneously calibrate up to nine temperature probes, with four of its test wells accepting interchangeable inserts. It calibrates a variety of temperature sensors within the range 50ºC to 700ºC.
  • IICT is offering two different calibration training courses in July and August. Their “Hands-On” Calibration & Repair two-day class trains you to be able to save your company money by performing calibrations and gage repairs that were previously being sent out. IICT's class, Designing Your Calibration System to ISO 9001:2000 and ISO 10012 provides information to develop a calibration system that meets ISO 10012, ANSI/NCSL Z-540 or ISO 17025 requirements.
  • Emerson Process Management offers ISO 17025 competency accredited Micro Motion® Coriolis calibration reference meters from their Boulder, Colorado, manufacturing facility. In the life sciences industry, where accuracy is critical to a drug's efficacy, ingredients are very expensive, and the government has tight regulations, these meters will provide quality assurance and reduce line shutdowns and calibration time.
  • Labtronics Inc. is pleased to announce the introduction of Pipette Tracker Pro, the only pipette calibration software that provides laboratories operating in a regulated environment with the tools that they need to comply with regulatory requirements such as 21 CFR Part 11.
  • A2LA announces Assessment of Laboratory Competence Class which provides a comprehensive look at the ISO/IEC 17025 requirements, as well as the process of accreditation and the assessment of a laboratory’s competence. Previously taught in separate courses, the merged subject matter enables the instructors to present an understandable explanation of the standard and how it should be applied.
  • GE Ruska, a business unit of GE Industrial Systems, has released the Model 7250LP Low Pressure Digital Pressure Calibrator, which is specifically designed for calibrating low pressure gauges such as Magnehelic type gauges, draft range pressure sensors and transducers, portable calibrators, and other devices in the inches of water pressure range.
  • Agilent Technologies Inc. announced the availability of its 2003 Basic Instruments Selection Guide. The free, 44-page document includes selection tables with the most important specifications to help R&D and manufacturing test engineers quickly identify products of interest.
  • Emerson Process Management's version 6.1 of AMS, a technology of Emerson's PlantWeb® digital plant architecture, is the first software to add web browser-based access to instrument and valve information. The new software enhances valve diagnostics and offers more capabilities to meet regulatory requirements of FDA 21 CFR part 11.
  • ISO's new SI Guide covers the basics of: the historical background, the principles of the SI, the base units, derived units, multiples and sub-multiples, additional units, printing rules, space and time, periodic phenomena, mechanics, heat, electricity and magnetism, light, acoustics, physical chemistry, atomic and nuclear physics activity, ionizing radiations, characteristic numbers, and it ends with conversion tables.
  • New stirred liquid baths from Isothermal Technology Ltd. are available. The 798 Range, with their depth of 300mm, satisfies the needs of professional engineers who understand the need for sufficient immersion of at least 270mm as recommended in Supplementary Information to the International Temperature Scale of 1990 (ITS-90). The baths have a 150mm diameter offering one of the largest calibration volumes available. The parallel tube concept where liquid flows up the rear volume and down the calibration volume virtually eliminates vertical and axial gradients.
  • SI Pressure Instruments are now manufacturing a new intrinsically safe portable pressure calibrator. Fitted with rechargeable batteries as standard, the PC6-IS is designed to accurately test and calibrate pressure measuring products such as transducers, transmitters, switches, relief valves, gauges etc.
