Radiation Thermometry Short Course

June 6-10, 2005
National Institute of Standards and Technology
Gaithersburg, MD

Course Description --
The course will consist of lectures and skill-building, problem-solving laboratory experiments and will cover the fundamentals of radiometric physics and instrumentation associated with determining temperature from observations of thermal radiation from materials. The exercises will provide experience in performing radiometric analyses to internalize key concepts and to serve as preparatory work for the experiments.

Goals and Objectives --
· Temperature measurement using thermal radiation,
· Practical laboratory exercises,
· Proper uncertainty analysis,
· Treatment of the measurement equation, and
· Understanding the calibration chain for radiance temperature.

Who Should Attend --
Scientists, engineers, and technicians who need to make reliable temperature measurements using radiation thermometers.
