GE
Introduces New Additions to DPI 800 Series Hand-Held Test Tools
GE Infrastructure,
Sensing, a leading provider of precision sensing products, systems and
services, announced new additions to its DPI 800 Series of hand-held test
tools, the DPI 832 electrical loop calibrator and DPI 841/842 frequency
calibrators.
The DPI 832 electrical loop calibrator (PDF
datasheet) provides a lightweight and convenient hand-held instrument
for testing control loops and for setting up distributed control systems
(DCS), programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and signal conditioners in
process and industrial control systems. The multifunctional DPI 832 provides
the ability to source and measure millivolts, milliamps or volts, while
simultaneously measuring milliamps or capturing switch trip values with
its dual reading capability and large display.
The DPI 841 frequency calibrator measures and sources frequency from 0.01
Hz up to 50 kHz, with up to six output waveforms with amplitudes from
0.1 volts to 24 volts. Dedicated features facilitate testing of electronic
circuits and frequency-based instruments including frequency meters, batch
counters, tachometers, integrators and flow meters.
The DPI 842 frequency loop calibrator provides all these functions in
addition to milliamp measurement, loop power and switch detection for
process instrumentation and control loop applications. Frequency can be
generated while a transmitter output is measure- or switch-values captured
¾common tests that are performed in all process control applications.

These new additions to the DPI 800 Series include common features such
as large, bright, backlit displays for easy reading in all lighting conditions,
rubberized exteriors for durability and ruggedness, intuitive menu systems
for ease of use, and HartÒ loop resistors. The new DPI 832/841/842 models
also include an Intelligent Digital Output SensorsTM (IDOSTM) port, allowing
remote pressure modules from 10 inH2O to 3000 psi to be connected. This
added flexibility allows the electrical test tools to also function as
accurate pressure indicator/calibrators.
"GE is very excited to offer these additions to the DPI 800 hand-held
tool platform," said Jim Henke, product manager for GE Infrastructure,
Sensing. "The DPI 832, 841 and 842 electrical test tools are significant
additions to the previously-released DPI 801 pressure calibrator and DPI
810/820 thermocouple and RTD calibrators. Customers now have a series
of tools that delivers both performance and flexibility for the test and
calibration of their critical process control systems."
