New Aluminum Fixed-Point Cell from Fluke's Hart Scientific Division

Fluke’s Hart Scientific division announces the model 5947 metal-cased aluminum fixed-point cell, designed to make low uncertainty fixed-point calibration practical up to 660.323 °C, without the overhead of a primary standards laboratory.

Unlike the traditional quartz-encased cell, this stainless steel–encased cell does not require courier shipment and is much less susceptible to accidental breakage. Its ultra pure (>99.9999 %) metal and 156 mm (6.14 in) immersion depth provide ± 2 mK uncertainties that rival those of a traditional quartz cell, but the Hart 5947 fixed-point cell is half the cost to purchase and maintain. In the Hart Scientific 9260 mini furnace, the cell provides a long enough plateau for a full day’s work with a realization uncertainty of ± 4 mK.
